Absolutely! There are a number of reasons why I will stay in the area – all of which I will go with this FAQ. The amount of money does not matter, and will not influence my decision any differently whether I had $1,000,000 or $100,000,000.
First is family. As for family, my brother’s daughter lives about an hour away from me. I only get to see her once or twice a year. I would wish more, but can understand the would be strain in driving for hours each way to pick me up, and bring me back. About the only way to minimize this will be if I took a 1: Freeport Road as far as it goes, and meet with my niece in Tarentum. To move out of Allegheny County will only make things much harder to deal with in regards to seeing my niece and her family.
Next is friends. I have one friend in Allegheny County, and that is all. While I am sure there will still be a friendship if I was to leave, there will of course be the strain of a long distance friendship. She is not comfortable with email, so writing her on a regular basis will likely not happen. Maybe there will be a voice conversation once a week or so, but not much more.
Then there is my doctors. I see an anesthesiologist on a regular basis for pain management. After trying so many other drugs, the only one that seems to work is morphine. If I was to leave Allegheny County, it will make it hard if not impossible to visit my anesthesiologist to acquire new prescriptions. He of course needs to see me every 3 months to make sure taking the morphine has no negative consequences. If I was to move to a small town, then finding such a doctor that is that understanding will be a pot luck, and most likely will not find one.
There is also public transportation. If I am able to acquire an automobile, and can drive – great. However, there is always that realistic possibility that I won’t be driving. Without public transit, there will be no way I could live where I will move to, and will be stuck moving back to Allegheny County anyways – but now with less money. Since the possibility of not being able to drive is significant enough to cause me concern, it will make sense to live somewhere that has a good public transit system. At least with PRT?, I am confident that I should be able to go to most communities in Allegheny County.
